The art of staying present
Both terms are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same. Here a quick explanation:
The art of turning your focus to the now. A great way to reduce acute stress levels.
An intense feeling of relaxation, which resolves stress patterns deeply rooted in the past. A wonderful detox for the nervous system.
Meditation and Mindfulness have in recent years become wildly popular. It seems like not that long ago when these techniques were laughed at and considered to be the crazy ideas of a bunch of esoteric wack jobs. But at this point, many people have realised how much good can come from this brief break from our daily grind. Numerous studies have since demonstrated the effects meditation has on our internal systems – an undeniable scientific argument for its benefits.
The main reason for meditation’s popularity is probably the fact that humans in the modern world are suffering from stress much earlier in their lives. Stress is considered to be the main cause for chronic illness, with even children and teens showing ever more symptoms like insomnia, anxiety or psychosomatic disorders.
When practicing meditation or mindfulness, the following is key:
It’s better to do it for short periods of time, but regularly.
It’s simple, but not easy.
Have you tried meditation, but it didn’t work for you? Have you been hearing about it for ages, but have never attempted it yourself? Did you use to meditate but lost the habit along the way?
